Throughout history, many cultures and peoples have used fragrant plants for their spiritual powers.
The mestizo shamans of the Amazon tend to specialize, using just one or few plants in their work. Perfumeros use the scents of various fragrant plants for healing and curative purposes.
When Nefertiti reined over Egypt, more than 3,000 tons of Frankincense tears were burned in one year to honor the Gods.(1)
In India, there is a flower called Kewda which Buddhist monks bow to whenever it blooms. Ammachi, the Great Hindu mother, uses and wears rose oil. Christ’s feet were blessed with Spikenard.
Also, in ancient Egypt, the lotus flower was considered not only the path to the Gods, but precious vials of the oils of lotus were buried with the ancients to help them find their way to the afterlife. In addition to its remarkable aroma, Blue Lotus is still being explored for its entheogenic properties.
Sacred Blending© Defined
The ancient peoples and indigenous shamans knew what we have forgotten – that scent works in a sacred circle of loving reciprocity.
Nine years ago, my Helping Spirits started teaching me a glorious, shamanic way to work with the spirits of aromatic oils and waters called Sacred Blending©. I was told that during this process I would be calling forth the curative power (their words, not mine) of the oils into unique blends for individuals and for sacred ceremonial use. This work never stops evolving.
